Nailpolish Of The Day: Essie LUXE EFFECTS: Set In Stones

"Set in stones" over top one coat of Sally Hansen Salon Manicure "Crinoline"
*Check out my nailpolish collection post below for a swatch*

Essie: LUXE EFFECTS - "Set In Stones"
A very beautiful nailpolish with a clear jelly base and hexigonal/chunky glitters of all assorted sizes. It layers nicely and two coats should be good enough in most cases either ontop of an actual color or on your bare nail. I find that it doesnt feel thick or griddy either even after 2-3 coats which is unlike any other glitter Ive tried before. Ive seen many different silver glitters in my day but this tops them by far. Essie is sold in most drugstores for 7-12$ (Canadian). These Luxe Effects are limited edition and should be in stands throughout the store and should be easy to find. They have about 10 different colours and 5 different effects with this collection so dont miss out and pick one up!

MAYBELLINE EYE STUDIO COLOR TATTOO 24HR CREAM GEL SHADOW REVIEW/SWATCHES

Left: Audacious asphalt ------- Right: Bad To The Bronze

REVIEW:
Where to find them?
Any drugstore/grocery store or wherever Maybelline is sold. You can try online as well
How much are they?
Depends where you go. Wal-mart is probably the cheapest and for all my Canadians, Shoppers Drugmart is going to be the most expensive...but they are having a sale right now (Jan 28/12) they are $5.99 each and thats a dollar cheaper then Wal-Mart was.

First off, talking about the packaging...I love the basic and sleek look to this product. I love how its a thick sterdy re-usable jar that displays the color and names very clearly. You get a lot of product and its easy to get every last drop. I believe they have 9 different colors out. Most Ive seen are shimmery or have chunky glitter in it and there was only one shade that was matte. There is a good balance between  neutrals and brights but I wish there was more matte shades and more skin tone shades to choose from. I dont know if they are coming out with more colors. The pigmentation is excellent in this product and when applying, what you see in the jar is what you get on your eyes. As far as the claim to last 24 hours, I believe that to be true. I swatched a few in the store and washed my hands with hot water and soap multiple times and it did not budge. As far as my eyes, like I said, amazing pigmentation...you get the exact color on your lid and it gives a gracious amount of time to apply and blend perfectly before drying completely and becoming crease proof. (1-2 minutes to fully dry) Once dry, you can apply shadows over it or leave it by itself. Either way, they do not crease in any way, shape or form and they do not move until you decide to take it off. It does not fade either. I find using shadows overtop intensify the color and almost make my shadows last longer and they do not budge either. As far as removing it, makeup remover or a makeup wipe and slight scrubbing will get it off just fine.

Verdict:
10/10

For being so widely available and such a great price with an awesome shade selection for everyone, this product blows my mind! Ive never used anything like it and it even blows my MAC paintpots out of the water. Im planning to get one or two more because they are going to be a great product to throw on my lids for the Summer time!

Definitely go pick one up and try it for yourselves. You wont regret it!

7th Day Braces...

Not much to update on today. Things are getting really easy and normal feeling. Chewing and eating gets easier every day and Im slowly discovering what I can and cannot eat. I still cant bite into things with my front teeth (cheeseburgers and things like that.) I still have to break things up but I can tell the pressure in my jaw to bite on food is getting a little stronger. Canker sores are getting more apparent on the brackets with hooks on them. On the plus side, I think Im losing weight! From not snacking so much which is a good thing but I only mostly only stick to foods I know are comfortable to eat which is usually pasta and potatoes...bad bad bad! I found myself forgetting I had braces for long periods of time today. Usually Im constantly playing with them (which is why I think my teeth kept feeling really dirty...probably from running my tongue along them so often) I chewed gum for the first time today and it didnt get stuck everywhere so Im very happy I can chew gum because Id way rather have gum than mints! I wont be updating daily anymore because things are getting quite repeatative so I will update a 1-2 times a week for the couple weeks then I will update on any changes or requests you guys have. Like I said, I will be taking a picture every Sunday until they are off and will do a blogpost at the end of each month. I wanted to make sure I had all the issues that occur within the first week and then make sure I let you guys know how it goes for the first month which is the worst part of it all. I wont be neglecting my blog so stay tuned :)

6th Day Braces...

The sores on the insides of my cheeks and slightly on my tongue are becoming more and more apparent now that I can chew and eat a bit more. My bottom and canine tooth arent nearly as sore and since my ortho changed the springs on the bottom teeth to bars, my teeth arent moving so fast if not at all. Eating and chewing is still pissing me off more then ever I just feel like eating is such a hastle because stuff gets caught between everything and then I cut my tongue trying to clean it. I can chew a lot better but still cant put full pressure on my back teeth yet. The blue stoppers on my molars are making it way more difficult to chew an d eat. I dont feel like eating even satisfies me or is enjoyable at all right now and I think thats because I dont feel like I have the sensation of chewing my food it just kinda gets mashed up between all the crap in my teeth and swallowed then I spend 10 mins cleaning out my braces. Ive also been feeling like my braces on top get really dry and fuzzy feeling kind of like when your teeth have plaque on them and they feel gross. This happens even when I brush them. I dont know if its a sensation from the inside of my lips beginning to change or what but it feels quite gross and annoying. Brushing and flossing is super easy and fast for me now though and Im very used to it. I brush floss and mouthwash twice a day morning and night. I went to work for the first time with my braces today and I feel like noone notices them which makes me feel better! My boyfriend had them a few years ago so if I ever have questions I turn to him and its nice to talk to someone about it :)

Nails Of The Day: Sparkly Acrylic - Attempt One!

White tips, clear acrylic powder mixed with sparkly glitter. 3 parts clear acrylic powder one part sparkly powder. Looks a bit more sparkly than real life due to the flash! Let me know if you want a tutorial even though its super simple!

5th Day Braces & First Appointment

I had my first check up appointment at the orthodontist today. Nothing too major or time consuming. They mostly wanted to check and see how everything was going but more specifically the 3 springs I have that were giving me pain on the two teeth Ive mentioned quite a bit in my previous posts. (Top right canine and bottom tooth at the front.) They changed the springs on the bottom to a bar that doesnt move my teeth because they thought the springs were too strong for the time being. My next appt was supposed to be March 2nd (I think 6 weeks from getting them on) but they changed it to just 4 weeks to see how the bars and top spring is doing. Opening/closing the brackets and changing the springs on bottom was super painful. The most pain Ive had yet simply because there was TONS of pressure to begin with and with her pushing on my sensitive teeth pretty firmly sent pain all through my jaw. The pain/pressure lasted about 30 mins and Im fine now. I can already tell with these bars instead of springs theres a lot less pain on my bottom teeth, they dont hurt nearly as bad and chewing is slightly easier. They post poned my rubber bands for another few weeks so that Im comfortable with eating and the pain. I also got told I have to brush better under my springs but they understand Im babying the area cause its extra sore. Im very anal about brushing/flossing/mouthwash 2x a day but its really hard when everything is sore and the electric toothbrush is too abrasive for right now. I find my top brackets feel semi dry and like they have plaque on them and its kinda of an uneasy/uncomfortable feeling. No more sores in my mouth or cuts on my tongue. Lips arent as dry. Still eating soft foods. I can chew a bittt better but still cant bite into anything. I just break up the food and chew with my back teeth.

4th Day Braces...

So the little canker sore I had on the inside of my bottom lip is now healed and gone and Im almost positive that was from excessive talking...I tried to apply wax on the bottom bracket but it wouldnt stick (I couldnt get it dry enough, Im gonna try a blowdryer on my tooth next time haha.) I find my mouth gets excess saliva in it when I lay down. I think it may be because my mouth isnt used to the objects in my mouth and maybe it thinks its food so it over produces spit? I dont know, but thats my theory! I dont feel like my lips stick out much anymore. I brushed and flossed and all that fun stuff yesterday, it is a long process but nothing too difficult. TIP: Dont put toothpaste on your electric toothbrush and turn it on when its not in your mouth LOL. I can chew a little better today. Still going with softer foods though. I go for a check up appointment tomorrow to see how everything is. My top canine and bottom tooth are still tender to the touch but pain is good I dont feel anything like the second day. Still havent taken any meds so it is definitely bareable. As far as movement, I can tell my top two teeth in the front have straightened a little bit (but they werent too crooked, just needed slight tweaking) and the bottom tooth as moved very slightly. I noticed (and as expected) food gets stuck everywhere inside the braces so I try to eat with my back teeth then I try and clean in and around the brackets with my tongue and I have a feeling Im gonna keep an extra toothbrush/floss and a mirror at all times in my purse. Im gonna be self concious of eating now because stuff gets stuck between every bracket. Not the end of the world though :) I quite like them now. Something I thought I would NEVER say. I like them because I know they are helping me

3rd Day Braces...

So Im pretty much used to the feeling of braces by now. The pain is non-exsistant unless I clench my teeth together or try to eat. It feels like I cant bite or chew anything for some weird reason...so much pressure and tenderness. There is one tooth on top and one tooth on bottom that are particularily sore and have been since the first few hours of getting my braces on. I havent taken any pain meds and did go out all night partying and as long as Im not eating Im not in any pain. I am developing a little sore on the bottom inside lip and I think its from shouting in the club for a few hours last night and excessively talking. Drinking/brushing my teeth is super simple and Im happy about that but still eating is very difficult. Im getting a little more used to the braces and Im way more confident than the first day. Most people didnt even know I had them either which was great! I was taking pictures all night and still smile in pictures. Although, its still a little awkward while smiling or laughing because my lips dont know what to do, lol! My lips have been quite dry but I keep them moisturized.

Ive been eating really soft foods like potatoes, ravioli, overly boiled pastas, yogurt, jell-o etc. I try to chew on things but my jaw is to week to break up the food so I put the food to the very back and mash it around and I chew fairly loud because I cant chew my food I can only really suck on it. So far I havent seen any real movement which I wouldnt expect to see until around a months time. Ive decided Im going to take a picture once every Sunday until they are off to see progress!

2nd Day Braces...

Well I went to sleep up and woke up and Im insanely sore today. There is one tooth on the bottom that feels extra sensitive/tender. My whole mouth feels like theres pressure and its tender to bite down. The pain is giving me a slight headache with a bit of an ear ache. It feels kind of like pressure from wisdom teeth coming in is how I can describe the pain. Im semi-used to the feeling of the braces but still very awkward to eat. I havent attempted to brush my teeth yet but I will later today. I need to start wearing my rubberbands but I still cant get them on! I will probably try again in a day or two when the pain isnt so bad. Im hoping this is the worst of the pain...even though I do have a semi high pain tolerance.

Today I Got Braces.....

I will be blogging about my experiences about once a week on any changes/pain/concerns etc. And will throw in a YouTube video once in a while to show you guys progress.

So just a little bit of background on my specific case:

Iam soon turning 21 in April and have wanted a perfect smile for about 10 years. The last 5yrs I was doing some mad research and thinking hard about what I wanted to do and just this year I saved all the money to finally go ahead and do it. Was $6,200 but I had $3100 (Canadian) covered from dental. The main reason I wanted braces was to align and straighten my severely crooked bottom teeth and to round out my mouth to have fuller arches and a wider smile. I had black spaces on the sides when I smiled and my top teeth were slightly crooked as well. My treatment is estimated to be 20-24 months.

*Keep in mind EVERYONES case is different with cost/procedures and what type of braces will work best for you.

I originally wanted to get Invisilign (clear on top and bottom retainers, no metal required) and made an appointment with an Orthodontist. For her personally, my case was a little severe and out of her comfort zone so she sent me over to an Ortho that was more complex. I had about 4 visits with her when she crushed me when she told me I shouldnt get Invisilign for the simple fact that my case was still too severe. She had said they would work and improve my teeth but not give me a 100 percent result and I may need to go into braces again right after which meant (4+ years of braces + double the cost)..um....no thanks!

We finally decided upon braces (The Damon Braces) I got 6 clear top brackets with the rest metal. I have to wear light rubber bands that are fairly hidden for the duration of my treatment. I have stoppers on my molars to prevent me from biting down and hitting my back brackets. For the first few months I have 3 springs (one on the left canine and two over my bottom teeth) Before I got my braces it was a very long, drawn out process...I had to see 2 Orthos as well as go to about 25 appointments, get all my dental work done, get molds, xrays and get all 4 of my wisdom teeth out before we could start (I have a blog post on that).

As far as getting them on it took about 2 hours. Its a very easy process just very long and annoying after a while. No pain putting them on and my mouth didnt feel as stretched out as I thought it would with the big plastic parts they put in your mouth to hold your cheeks back. My jaw did get sore after 2 hours of holding it open but after the brackets were on the wire was a breeze. All they do for each tooth is pretty much dry it with air, put on glue to hold the bracket, push the bracket on the tooth and cure it with a light. Takes about 3 minutes per tooth. The first time I felt them was with just the brackets (no wire) and they didnt feel that weird to me...once the wires were on they do feel quite weird and bulky in the sense that your mouth and lips dont really know what to do for awhile. I talk totally normal I dont have a lisp but my lips get confused on where to rest and do stick out a lot.

There is one thing I will tell you and I know its completely normal but its a feeling that you will never know until you get braces and thats...having all the metal in your mouth and feeling like its 30 times bigger then it actually is and it feels like everyone in the world is staring at your mouth. (Even though when we see people with braces it is noticeable but its not all you notice...and I happen to think braces ON OTHER PEOPLE are cute) Thats the toughest part for me....Im very in tuned to what I look like (like most people) and my confidence is just completely shot after this. I feel so ugly and I feel like I will never look good with them on. Im not gonna say they are pretty nor will they ever be but hopefully after they straighten and I get the springs off it will look less harsh. Your mind also has to get used to seeing yourself  like that. Once you see yourself your heart kind of sinks because a) you know they cant come off b) your stuck with them for 1-2 years c) your in for a lot of pain for a good few weeks d) retraining your mouth to talk, eat, drink, and for you lips to sit normal is a challenge. (Eating is especially hard with the big block of filling in my molars preventing me from biting down all the way. It feels like hard gum stuck in your teeth that you cant get out and the sensation of where your food is, is very odd)

As far as pain...I didnt feel any within the first 4 hours...none at all it was mostly getting used to them. But I did take a nap and woke up and there is certain teeth that if I touch them they are tender and almost feel loose and wobbly. Quite a bit of pressure. Nothing unbearable yet. There is no sharp brackets in my mouth and so far, dont have any problems with sores inside my mouth. Once, I was using my tongue to clean out the sides of my braces and it kind of hooked onto a bracket so just be careful of rubbing your tongue along the outside. As far as rubber bands go....most frustrating shit I've ever experienced! They are tiny and so hard to hook on to your brackets. Between big fingers + small elastics + saliva and your cheeks and with a very small bracket to work with ...it becomes very frustrating....the only thing keeping me going is getting the springs off and seeing improvement and getting these bad boys off. Im glad the top are clear but the springs dont exactly make it very clear at the moment. Ive eaten a softer chilli so far and its not that bad to chew...I just use my back teeth because my front teeth are sore. I will update soon! xo

Review On My YouTube Camera: Sony Handycam HDR-CX360V

Just my thoughts, pros & cons on this camcorder.

Cost: $450-650 CDN
Where to find it: BestBuy, FutureShop (online, etc)

This camera is GREAT for YouTube videos especially tutorials and things like that. Extremely easy for beginners or people that arent great with technology/computers/camera settings. It comes all set up and the buttons and settings are very straight forward.

Pros:
-Very light weight, compact camera
-5" flip around touch LCD screen
-Amazing playback audio surround sound speakers
-USB is built into the camera so you dont have to worry about forgetting cords
-12x optical zoom with 17x extended zoom (I can zoom into a sign 300 feet away and still read it!)
-Stabilizes video recording for shakey hands as well as comes with a hand grip
-Comes with remote. Stop start record, pictures, zoom in and out hands free!
-Built in GPS
-Takes photos
-Built in light for night time photos or recording
-Compatable with PC and MAC computers
-32 GB space...you dont need to spend the extra money and hastle on memory cards
-Wide angle for YouTube
-Focuses on objects directly infront of the camera without fussing with settings

Cons:
-The only con I have about this camera is it took me a while and lots of researching to figure out how to get my videos from my camera to my Macbook laptop. It would transfer my photos totally fine but not my videos until I figured out I had to open up iMove first then plug in the USB which I never had to do with my old cameras.
-The files are very big and take a lot of computer space so just be aware of that.

I dont know the in's and out's of this camera just yet but if you have any questions just let me know.

New Years Resolutions! 2012

I set goals every year. Some big, some small. Some easy to achieve some difficult to achieve. I accomplished 90 percent of mine last year now its time for round two!

1. Focus on my education. I graduated in 2009 and Ive had a job ever since. Ive paid off my car and I have most of the things I wanted paid for. I would just be working part time to maintain bills and save a little bit further than what I already have in my savings account. I will first be starting with upgrading my Math and English skills to the highest possible stage then we decide what classes to take in University. I wanted to be absolutely focused and ready to be successful in school and know what I want to do without second guessing. Im happy with my decision to wait but now Im focused, mature, and ready. Im just about ready to move out on my own Ive done all the steps necessary other than getting a solid, good paying job that I enjoy.

2. Get braces and achieve my PERFECT smile! Ive had this on my list of things to do for 10 years and I finally saved up the money to do so. In my previous post, I told you guys I got my wisdom teeth out...that was the last step before getting my braces on so we shall be a braceface in about a months time!

3. Put my 100 percent effort into my YouTube channel. Ive watched YT vids for over 3 years and have had my own channel for 2 and I FINALLY have an amazing camera, laptop, and editing program Ive always wished and dreamed for and Im NOT taking it for granted! Im determined to turn my channel into a success! I wish/aim to have 5.000 subs by the end of this year.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction: My Experience

My whole experience on getting all 4 wisdom teeth extracted while put under using I.V sedation.

I had guessed for about 5 months that I needed to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted due to pressure and pain in my gums. But when I got the final conformation from an x-ray I knew I was doomed! LOL. I got an appointment to get them out about a month and a half later. I actually only needed 2 out but I was not about to go through the pain and sedation again a second time around, so I decided to get all 4 out in one go. All my teeth were still under the gums and a fairly easy and common case.

So the day finally arrived and I was probably the most nervous I'd ever felt for anything in my entire life...I thought about that day for a month straight and more so the week before and especially the night before. I was having intense nightmares. I did everything in my power to try and keep calm but nothing worked. So when I went in the morning at 8:30 on December 29th, I just wanted to get it done and over with. With my luck there was a tiny delay so it just made my mind wonder and my stomach turn even more. After they called me in my heart sank as I walked into the "operating room". Luckily, the office and room was very bright and open and didnt look like a typical medical room. That was a bit comforting. They began by putting a monitor on my finger and oxygen tubes up my nose and Im not sure if they were giving me some sort of medication to calm me down but it definitely felt like it. They soon blasted my arm with a freezing agent to numb the pain for the I.V about to enter my vein. Seconds later, my surgeon announced to my Mum and myself that he was starting "the magic juice"my Mum gave me a kiss and left and then I remember looking at the I.V drip 3 times and I was out like a light.

I dont remember falling asleep or dreaming. It felt like I had woke up from a nap and it felt like no time had passed. After I woke up, I only remember 3 things in a 2 hour time span. I remember waking up and calling for my Mum and I also remember my stomach feeling really well and not nauseous in the slightest. Praise Jesus! (I was most nervous about throwing up after sedation because it was super common.) I do not remember anyone talking to me, going down the elevator or to my Mums car, or even 99 percent of the car ride home. I do remember opening my eyes one time to see where we were and I couldnt make it out. I thought I was asleep for 2 straight hours but video footage prooves different! Apparently I was awake and talking away...(Embaressing video footage coming soon to a YouTube near you! LOL) I dont remember having any pain in my face or mouth. I think I was WAY too out of it to even notice anything. After we drove for about 40 minutes to my house I hardly remember walking to the couch but when I woke up I was home and quite alert. I then started to realize what had happend and how my face felt. To be completely honest, I didnt feel much pain. There was quite a bit of blood but the gauze was there to stop it, I was mostly concerned with how dry my lips and mouth felt and I was really hungry from not eating all day or 10 hours prior to surgery.

Now began my 7 day journey through eating soft foods, being swollen and bruised, and talking really funny. That whole day I wasnt in any extreme pain, just discomfort, much like the whole entire recovery. I was prescribed codeine and I had chewable Tylonal (because I cant swallow pills and even if I could I couldnt open my mouth wide enough to swallow it anyway) for the first day I didnt take any medication. I attempted to eat something 5 hours after surgery. I didnt quite know what was even going on in my mouth still. I was still frozen, bleeding, and had a dry, bad taste in my mouth and didnt even know where the stitches were located so I had to be very careful when eating for the first time. I immediately discovered how weak my jaw and teeth were, making in impossible to chew anything. I had so much pain from the stitches, that I mashed my food against the roof of my mouth with my tongue to avoid and pressure against my teeth and jaw and also to avoid the wounds and stitches. That seemed to work but only with mashed potatoes, eggs, pudding, jell-o, yogurt, and icecream. You arent supposed to spit, swish or suck anything as well as brush your teeth, smoke, drink or do activity for anywhere from 3-7 days in company with icing regularly, taking your medication to reduce swelling, salt water rinsing and getting lots of rest. Doing all the above will also reduce the risk of dry sockets.

The first day wasn't the worst because I didnt remember much and the pain hadnt kicked in but the worst days were the 2nd and 3rd. I was swollen consistantly from the 1st to the 4th day with mild bruising on my jawline. The pain grew more intense as I woke up each morning for 3 days. Nothing ever unbearable though, mostly uncomfortable and very irritating to eat (and I was only on 3 Tylonal a day, I didnt end up taking the Codeine because I dont like taking stronger medication if I dont need it) The worst part for my was not being able to brush my teeth and over all not being able to eat comfortably. If I wasnt doing anything and took my medication the pain was completely bearable and way better than I thought. After the 4th day I began to eat a little bit more and the 5th day my dissolvable stitches had fallen out and that made eating even easier. Im on day 6 going on day 7 and my left side feels 90 percent better but the right side feels like its taking a bit longer...I think I may still have an open part inside my cheek making eating kind of uncomfortable. Im only chewing on the left side currently but I dont feel as much pressure or pain while chewing. My swelling is just about gone with the exception of the right side just a tad. I have no more stitches and Im able to talk normally and almost eat and chew normally...Im still staying away from really hard foods and Im going to take it easy for another week.

My one week check up is in 2 days and I think Im doing pretty good. I had to miss 5 days of work and Im still going to be taking it slow for the first couple shifts back.

Overall, my experience with the extraction, sedation and road to recovery went surprisingly well and way better than I anticipated. The sedation was actually very easy and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I would almost rather get put out because you really arent stressed and you dont remember anything. Not eating lasted a bit longer than I thought and that for me, was the worst part of the whole experience. If I was just relaxing on the couch not talking or eating I felt slight pressure but nothing more. Considering I was barely on any medication and while following all the doctors orders it was quite easy. Every case and pain tolerance is different but I just wanted to share my story with you guys to encourage you that it isnt that bad and it will go by fast. Just follow the rules and relax and dont try and be a hero after 4 days! Expect to be down for the count for 5-7 days and expect to take another week to FULLY heal. I even stayed home on New Years because I wanted to heal properly. Sigh.

Good luck & I wish you well! Msg me for any additional info or questions.
